From June 6, Batik Air will begin operating direct flights from Kuala Lumpur to Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste.

This makes Batik Air the first Malaysian carrier to serve the route, offering two flights per week aboard its Batik Air B737 aircraft.

Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, Batik Air CEO, said in a press statement, “We anticipate this route will enhance accessibility to Timor-Leste, offering passengers a direct, hassle-free journey with a flight duration of four hours and 15 minutes, eliminating the need for multiple layovers and providing a faster, more convenient connection between Malaysia and Timor-Leste.”

As its largest city, Dili is the perfect starting point for exploring Timor-Leste. Here, tourists can get a glimpse of the Asian-European fusion that gives this South-East Asian nation its distinctive look.

The blend of Timorese culture with Portuguese colonial heritage is apparent in the architecture, such as the churches and cathedrals.

These are among the places that can be visited, along with various museums detailing the country’s tumultuous past – from where tourists can learn how the youngest country in South-East Asia finally reached its independence in 2002.

Dili’s tropical beauty, with its pristine beaches and cerulean waters, also makes it an inviting destination for relaxation. From diving spots to mountain landscapes, there is plenty for tourists to discover.

The Kuala Lumpur-Dili service flies out of KL International Airport Terminal 1. Tickets – priced from RM1,029 – are now available for booking.

More information can be found on the Batik Air mobile app as well as the official website (www.batikair.com).
