One guy who turned jungle trekking and nature observation into a heroic war effort was Colonel Freddy Spencer Chapman, who recorded his exploits in the book The Jungle Is Neutral.
Last month, a biathlon combining a jungle run and open water swim, was held at Pangkor Laut, the private island off Pangkor Island in Perak, to honour the courage and determination of this British Army officer.
