Taking long, confident strides: The wide-leg silhouette is back in fashion

Who says your trousers have to be fitted all the time?

Whether cut straight, slim, or slightly flared, they are a wardrobe essential, really. But if the runways this season have a say, the latest look in trousers is the silhouette with a wide-leg.

Unlike palazzo pants, which are cut with an exaggerated flare and almost skirt-like, wide-leg trousers tend to have a cleaner, more structured shape.

This style makes them suitable for weekday wear and weekend dressing.

And they work well with anything from a crisp shirt or a slouchy knit to trainers, loafers, or a simple heel, as well as tailored blazers or even cropped jackets and t-shirts.

Best of all, wide-leg trousers flatter most body shapes and sizes.

They skim instead of cling, so they don’t draw attention to areas like the tummy, hips or thighs, where some might feel a little self-conscious about.

What’s more, the straight drop creates a clean vertical line that instantly elongates your frame!

Honestly, what’s not to love?

Our favourite is from Fendi’s pre–Spring/Summer 2026 collection, where the Italian label’s wide-leg trousers in a lovely eggplant shade appear to be crafted from silk taffeta.

The fabric gives the trousers a crisp structure and a luxurious sheen, which is always a plus.

Equally on-trend is the hemline, cut long enough to skim over the feet (a trend that’s having its moment), allowing only a peek of Fendi’s latest pointed-toe soles for a streamlined-leg effect.

The wide-leg trousers are paired with an orange V-neck sweater worn over a turquoise blouse.

Colour combinations spell fearless and fresh.

Emporio Armani’s version is cut just above the ankles, finished with a buttoned cuff at the hemline. In a smoky charcoal grey, the roomy trousers are worn with a brown sleeveless top made from a textured fabric.

The look is giving rugged with a polished-utility vibe, thanks to the matching leather handbag and shoes. This ensemble is perfect for a day on the move in the urban jungle.

For a playful twist (literally!), check out Dior’s take on the wide-leg trend in denim.

The jeans feature a unique twist-and-twirl design that, when the model sashays down the runway, looks like a sculptural swirl. How cool is that?

It’s avant-garde tailoring meets everyday denim for Spring/Summer 2026.

Local designer Kit Woo’s wide-leg trousers also have a unique cut where there appears to be an overlay. This detail gives the trousers a soft, sculptural flow and a touch of movement.

Zara’s version is equally interesting, tailoring-wise.

The high-street brand’s pinstripe grey wide-leg trousers feature a large, single pleat that gives the trousers a flowy finish for that polished yet laid-back look. So chic!

For a walk on the wild side, Pull & Bear offers wide-leg trousers in a python print paired with a lipstick-red cable-knit sweater worn over a white shirt. Talk about fashion with bite!
