Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh once again drew all eyes when she walked the red carpet of the 2024 Met Gala in New York City. The Malaysian actress wore a Balenciaga design that resembled tin foil.

Speaking to People at the event, she explained that Demna (the creative designer of Balenciaga) was inspired by his childhood memories.

"Actually, he said it was something he did when he was a young child, playing with tin foil and making dresses on his sister's toys," she noted.

Yeoh also showed off a new hairdo: a short, edgy bob.

"This is my new look," Yeoh said. "Working with Demna, it's the whole (look). It's not just a dress. It's the jewellery, it's the hair, it's the makeup. So we all went through the process."

This is not the first time that Yeoh has been a guest of the Met Gala. She attended last year wearing a stunning design by the Karl Lagerfeld label. The year before that she wore a sea-green frock by Prabal Gurung.

A few days ago, the actress received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from US President Joe Biden for being the first Asian to win an Oscar as "Best Actress" in 2023.

Yeoh has been a familiar face at runway events. She has been dressed by some of the world's most renowned designers in the past.

The Met Gala is known as "fashion's biggest night out". It is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit, a black-tie extravaganza held the first Monday in May to raise money for the museum’s fashion wing, the only curatorial department at the Met that has to pay for itself.
