Dogs can provide emotional support, companionship and bring joy to their owners, with many counting their furry friends as members of the family.

In June 2023, Forbes.com cited a report by Forbes Advisor on the latest pet owner statistics, which revealed that in the US, dogs are the most popular pet with 65.1 million households owning a dog, followed by cats (46.5 million households) and freshwater fish (11.1 million households).

Having another member of the household translates to increased spending, and according to the report, in 2022, Americans spent US$136.8bil (RM640bil) on their pets, up 10.68% from 2021, and dog owners spend an average of US$730 (RM3,413) a year on their dogs.

Providing food, shelter and medication are the bare minimum, but some pet parents are taking it a step further by splurging on their dogs with clothes and accessories from high-end brands.

Names like Ralph Lauren, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Hermes and more have in the past few years added pet fashion to their fashion lineups, offering cute clothing, embellished collars and leads, trendy dog carriers and even chic scarves and bandanas.

So if your pooch’s wardrobe needs an update, know that there are plenty of stylish options out there created specifically for man’s best friend.
