High-end brands are recognising the impact of streetwear culture and adapting their creations to meet the changing preferences of a new wave of style-savvy consumers.

From bold branding, hoodies to sneakers and other designs synonymous with street fashion, these pieces are increasingly transitioning from urban streets to the glamorous runways of Paris, Milan, New York et al.

While some may feel that street style is not compatible with premium brands, there are several labels that have come up with creations, which merge elements of streetwear with a more refined sensibility in terms of design, material and craftsmanship.

Our favourite has to be Chanel’s ensemble comprising a pair of blue, logo-laden jeans and a tan bomber jacket.

Part of the Autumn/Winter 2023 collection, the brand declares that the attire takes inspiration from the 90s era infused with elements of hip-hop culture.

On a different note, Gucci makes a bold statement in its Cruise 2024 collection.

One of the key looks, inspired by skater style, is a jacket with a hoodie paired with cargo pants. These are embellished with the intertwined double G insignia.

As if that is not enough, the word “GUCCI” is printed on the back of the jacket in stark white.

For something cool and classic, check out Stella McCartney’s varsity jacket that comes with an attached hoodie, and bearing the designer’s initial.

Louis Vuitton also joins the street style movement in its Autumn 2024 line with a denim jacket and jeans, which showcases the iconic monogram pattern combined with what looks like a floral pattern.

Lending sophistication to the streetwear aesthetic is Tom Ford’s three-piece number from the Autumn/Winter 2023 line.

The look consists of a plush velour tracksuit in the most mesmerising purple colour, which contrasts beautifully against a long, chocolate brown coat. Quite the fashion statement!

Philipp Plein keeps the streetwear vibe alive with tattered jeans, paired with a rugged denim shirt and a frayed sweater.

Giving extra flair is a varsity jacket enhanced with a paisley print. He has also designed matching paisley print sneakers to complete the look.

Part of Fendi’s Spring/Summer 2024 includes designs that spell streetwear but with a lot of swank, such as a relaxed green shirt decked out with the famous double F logo.

This is paired with beige bermuda shorts, and capping off the outfit is a brown bucket hat with “FENDI” written on it.

Undeniably hip, these creations brilliantly blend luxury with mainstream, street culture style.
