First Malaysian creator-owned comic to get Eisner Award nomination

Malaysian comic artist Reimena Ashel Yee’s webcomic turned graphic novel, The Carpet Merchant Of Konstantiniyya, has been nominated for an Eisner Award, the comics industry’s equivalent of the Oscars.

The graphic novel is nominated for the Best Digital Comic Eisner, alongside Bandette by Paul Tobin and Colleen Coover; Barrier by Brian K. Vaughan and Marcos Martin; Contact High by James F. Wright and Josh Eckert; Harvey Kurtzman’s Marley’s Ghost by Harvey Kurtzman, Josh O’Neill, Shannon Wheeler and Gideon Kendall; and Quince by Sebastian Kadlecik, Kit Steinkellner and Emma Steinkellner.
