This Chinese New Year, The Macallan invites you to embrace the spirit of connection and renewal with the launch of A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera.

This exceptional single malt whisky captures the warmth and joy of festive traditions, drawing inspiration from the cultural heritage of the Spanish region Jerez, home of The Macallan’s renowned sherry-seasoned casks.

Rooted in the vibrant customs of the Spanish region, Jerez de la Frontera, this is the third release in the annual The Macallan A Night on Earth limited edition gifting series.

The first one, A Night On Earth In Scotland, paid tribute to Scotland’s Hogmanay festivities and the universal joy of celebrating the change of year around the world, while the second one, A Night On Earth – The Journey paid tribute to the journey to return home to celebrate with our loved ones.

This year’s edition takes us to Jerez de la Frontera, the home of Sherry wine deep in the heart of Andalusia, Jerez in southern Spain. This is where the Macallan sources exceptional oak casks that are seasoned with sherry wine so crucial to its whiskies.

A Night on Earth in Jerez de la Frontera celebrates the timeless artistry of whisky-making and enduring traditions. Drawing on the flavours of Jerez and the festive spirit of renewal, it embodies the values of connection and reflection cherished during this season.

The whisky itself is a unique expression using a perfectly balanced combination of European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks, and is as much an experience as it is a drink.

Its radiant burnt orange hue, reminiscent of glowing Chinese New Year lanterns, hints at the journey of flavours within.

The nose reveals a harmonious medley of honey-coated pestiños, sweet raisins, cinnamon, and anise, enriched by the warmth of rich oak and vibrant citrus.

On the palate, layers of sweet pastries, white grapes, and honey-glazed almonds unfold, balanced with creamy vanilla and delicate spices. A whisper of fresh rosemary adds a delightful twist, while the warm, sweet finish leaves an enduring impression of festive cheer.

Continuing in the tradition of the series, The Macallan also worked with a renowned artist for this edition.

This time, the whisky’s eco-conscious packaging is adorned with artwork by María Melero, a Jerez-based artist whose designs capture the essence of her hometown’s festive spirit.

Her imagery evokes the region’s sherry vineyards and symbolic roses, representing the cultural heritage and natural craftsmanship of the region. These details align with The Macallan’s dedication to sustainability, honouring its deep connection to Jerez while looking to the future.
