The Macallan commemorates its 200 year anniversary and a legacy of craftsmanship and innovation with the exceptional Time: Space Collection.
The Macallan celebrated its 200 year anniversary in 2024 with a number of extraordinary releases, one of which was the exceptional TIME : SPACE Collection.
The groundbreaking limited edition release was a tribute to the brand’s unique interpretation of time travel through whisky mastery, taking whisky enthusiasts on a journey across centuries, blending past, present, and future in two exceptional expressions: TIME : SPACE and TIME : SPACE Mastery.
At the heart of TIME : SPACE is a dual-chambered vessel – one chamber holds a rare 1940 vintage, at 84 years old, the oldest and rarest ever bottled by the distillery, housed in a round, doughnut-shape bottle.
Bottled at 43.6% ABV, the 84-year-old comprises whiskies distilled in 1940 and aged in two sherry-seasoned casks – a first-fill American oak butt and a second-fill European oak butt.
Fitting snugly in the middle of that doughnut, is the second chamber – a 375ml flask containing another whisky that marks a significant milestone in Macallan’s history – a 2018 vintage, distilled at The Macallan’s new distillery.
This five-year-old 54.9% ABV single malt distilled in 2018 that is also the first ever officially-released whisky that was made in Macallan’s new distillery, which opened that same year.
With only 200 bottles available globally, each piece of the TIME : SPACE release is a tangible reflection of The Macallan’s evolution. The vessel itself, inspired by the intricate art of origami, symbolises the delicate balance of preserving tradition while embracing innovation.
