Year of the Rat: Fortunes of the Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth Rats

2020 is the Year of the Metal Rat. The Rat ranks first in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. The years of the Rat are: 1912,1924,1936,1948,1960,1972,1984,1996,2008 and 2020.

This year, the Rat in general will have average to bad luck, according to feng shui master Yap Boh Chu. He advises the Rat to be careful about health and work. The Rat should also steer clear of risky investments and unnecessary travel.

Yap gives a forecast for the Rat born in different years under different elements:

Metal Rat (1960,2020)

Characteristics: Rash but intelligent. Good-hearted. Hardworking money-earner.

In the first half of the year, you will have average luck. However, you can gain wealth through hard work.

During the second half of the year, you will face disturbances from backstabbing. Be careful when investing and also with legal issues. You also need to control your temper.

Water Rat (1912,1972)

Characteristics: Emotional and emphatic. Practical in nature.

You will have average luck and even incur minor loss of wealth. Be careful when investing, even with the people you know.

Career luck is strong but you will have obstructions to overcome. It is best to remain where you are and not undertake major changes this year.

Wood Rat (1924,1984)

Characteristics: Hardworking, energetic and good leaders. Good planning skills and good at team work. May be overly cautious

Luck is not so good. Be cautious in everything you do. Do not simply trust people you encounter.

Be extra careful in your work and investments.

There may be a possibility of legal issues and danger from travels in the beginning of the year.

Career can be good and, with hard work, you will be recognised for your ability and performance.

Fire Rat (1936,1996)

Characteristics: Least cautious of all Rats. High nervous energy. charismatic speaker.

You will be all right during the first half of the year but may face much pressure during the second half.

Take care of your health. Try to avoid risky investment-related ventures as well as water sports this year.

Earth Rat (1948,2008)

Characteristics: A stable personality who does not like disruptions. Likes to learn.

You may enjoy good wealth but it is not from new ventures. The rewards are from previous investments which will bear fruit this year.

Be careful about the company you keep as bad advice can be the direct cause of your troubles.

Beware of a major health issue in the middle of the year.
