When you have sensitive teeth, the level of resulting discomfort ranges from mild to severe, depending on the condition. More worryingly, this condition can also be an early warning sign of more serious dental problems.
Sensitive teeth is caused by the layer under the enamel (dentin) or the layer covering the root (cementum) becoming exposed due to receding gums. The exposed areas respond to stimuli, such as heat and cold and sometimes overly sweet and spicy foods, triggering pain.
