Those in close contact with poultry are most at risk of becoming infected with bird flu. Practise good hygiene while handling raw meat, and cook poultry products properly.
WHY did the chicken cross the road? This long-standing joke is not so funny in light of the recent bird flu outbreak. For whatever reason our feathered friend crossed the road, it was unfortunate enough to have picked up a highly pathogenic bird flu virus (pathogenic means that the virus causes severe illness). Not only that, it went back to the farm and infected all the other chickens.
