A new study has found that male chimpanzees that are more violent end up becoming the preferred sexual partners of the females they bully. - Reuters

For male chimpanzees, violent coercion is a successful strategy to fathering more kids.

A study of chimpanzees in Tanzania spanning 17 years has led scientists to conclude that males that subjected females to long-term aggressive behaviour, often including physical attacks, greatly improved their chances of fathering babies with them.
