PERAK’S Sungai Kampar lies just two kilometres from the well-known Gua Tempurung caves eco tourism complex, but it has taken a much longer time for this pristine river to become as famous as its limestone counterpart.

It is quite possible that Sungai Kampar would have remained relatively “unknown” for many more years if not for Chan Yuen-Li, who accidentally discovered the river’s potential for whitewater rafting ten years ago.
