HOW are the Trafficking in Persons (TIP) reports derived, and just why are they so important? These questions were posed to Bettina Malone, the press and information officer at the US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
“The TIP report is a congressional requirement of the Trafficking Victims Protection Act passed in 2000. Under the Act, the state department has to maintain a list of how countries around the world are committing to fighting human trafficking,” Malone says.
