THERE is a new term in town. It is telecommuting. The term simply refers to working from a remote location or from home, with the help of telecommunication technologies.
It is a trend that is fast catching among Generation X and Y workforce, especially in the United States. Even in a large organisation that employs thousands of staff, only a fifth of its employees work in the office. The others work anywhere they need to be, and are connected via telecommunication networks and devices. This method of working means the company is able to reduce costs such as overheads and rental.
