A Mother’s Day menu of Cream of Shrimp Soup, Salmon with Percik sauce, Bread and Butter Pudding paired with Pegaga Green Apple Smoothie with Dumex Dugro Fruit & Veg won Mohd Othman Mohd Rahim, 48 and his son, Muhammad Saif Mohd Othman, seven, the title of Dumex Chef Cilik 5 Power Nutri Season Two Winner and a RM25,000 cash prize.
An ecstatic Mohd Othman said participating in the reality TV cooking competition was both challenging and fun. “I have not only learnt about nutrition and that nutritious dishes can be just as tasty and yummy, I have also picked up lots of tips on choosing the right ingredients and methods to prepare healthy meals at home for my family.
“We learned about Eat Right Plate during the competition, which proved to be a good tool to help us visualise the right proportions of each food group to consume. Now I can ensure my family enjoys meals with variety, moderation and balance. And besides a really exciting learning experience, the show provided a great occasion for me to bond with my son,” he said.
First and second runner-ups comprising teams of an aunt and niece, Nur Azlyn, 44, and Kayla Aaliaahad, 11, and mother and son duo, Zainumey Mohd Shukor, 36, and Ahmad Shazwy Daniel Ahmad Sazeli, 10, took home RM15,000 and RM10,000 respectively.
A collaboration between Danone Dumex and Astro, Dumex Chef Cilik 5 Power Nutri is a reality TV cooking competition that encourages Malaysians to adopt healthier eating habits.
Season Two saw 27 teams of an adult and child battle it out.
Judges for the show were freelance chef and culinary consultant, Chef Andri; winner of MasterChef Selebriti Malaysia 2012, Datuk Fazley Yaakob; and Dumex nutritionist, Nor’azah Mohd Sidi.
