One of Malaysia's first parenting support groups IBU Family Resource Group (IBU) is having its inaugural bazaar this Sunday (Sept 11) from 10am to 6pm at The School @ Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.

IBU, a not-for-profit organisation, is run by parents for parents, and has been supporting parents with young children since 1989. It provides the necessary support, tools, resources, and information to help make parenting easier.

IBU's goal is to support families from all walks of life – single parents, working parents, adoptive parents, large families, first-time parents and more. To achieve this, it holds support groups for new parents, babywearing, breastfeeding, postpartum, and single parents. There are playgroups and social groups to give parents a chance to take a break and make new friends, while kids have a fun space to play. The workshops offer topics of interest to parents such as infant massage, first aid and CPR, baby sign language, and potty training. There are also arts and crafts events, seasonal parties and markets, as well as jumble sales for the whole family.

At the one-day-only bazaar, some of the exciting activities to look forward to include a petting zoo with more than 30 rabbits, hedgehogs, degu, etc; one-of-a-kind cardboard playground with fun themes such as 'Under the Sea' and activities like storytelling, balloon-twisting, and others. There will be artisan and pre-loved stalls offering child enrichment toys and activities, kids and home Discord (platform for people with similar interests to communicate/share), food and beverages, and more.

Free babysitting services are provided for parents while they shop.

There will also be a donation drive to benefit the needy. Families who are decluttering or moving countries can donate pre-loved children's items on the day of the bazaar. Vouchers are given for every box/bag of goods donated. The first 50 new members and existing members will be entitled to a goodie bag worth RM100.

The event is free but some activities may have a nominal fee.
