Waffles are a favourite food for many. Some enjoy having their waffles with maple syrup and butter, while others like it with whipped cream and fresh fruit. Some like savoury waffles and have them with sausages, eggs or even fried chicken.
Waffles Day is celebrated annually in Sweden, Norway and Denmark on March 25. On this particular day, people eat waffles for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
They have waffles with ice cream and even waffle sandwiches.

Ayza Arina Abdul Majid, 11, writes: "I love waffles because you can top them with so many different toppings and they taste amazing. My favourite toppings are strawberries, and blueberries with whipped cream."

Younger sibling Azra Nurjannah Abdul Majid, six, says: "I really love waffles! I usually make them with my dad for breakfast and I'll top them with chocolate and strawberry syrup and they taste so yummy!"

Wong Zhi Ying, seven, says waffles are one of her favourite desserts when eaten with ice cream. "On the weekends, my parents would bring me to have yummy waffles with blueberry, berries and bananas for breakfast. Occasionally, I would add chocolate chips, butter and mango."

Waffles taste great if you make them in a particular waffle machine. Then, the aroma will send your tummy rumbling away when they are done. You can have the waffles with honey, butter, ice cream and jam," says Chuah Seng Koon, six.

Eight-year-old Wong Cheng Yang prefers waffles with chocolate spread and ice-cream toppings. "I like both toppings because of the sweet and yummy taste. However, I do not put in too much ice cream because it can melt very fast. But, I love to share it with my family and friends."

Sophie Yap Jyn Qing, nine, writes: "Waffles have different flavors but chocolate waffles is the one I like the most.We ate waffles for breakfast because my grandad bought some for us."

"I like to eat waffles with honey or cream or chocolate," says six-year-old Claire Yap Jyn Wei.

I like my waffles with strawberries, cheese and honey - they are all my favourite things," writes Asher Wang Qi Chuen, four.

Older sibling Bethany Wang Qi Syuen, seven, prefers waffles with fruit jam and topped with strawberry and ice cream. "It tastes so delicious! It is nice to eat waffles with a glass of milkshake."

"I want to try a waffle with chocolate syrup, marshmallows, blueberries, bananas and a stick of ice cream. I hope it tastes good. I'd like to share this delicious treat with Mummy," writes Florence Chan Zi Hsuan, seven.

Ten-year-old Low Ying Xi loves waffles prepared by her mother for breakfast. "The preparation needs to be done a day earlier. My sister and I will always help her mix the dough mixture. Mummy will also add butter and honey to make it taste delicious. She always garnishes berries on top of it to make it more appetising."

Nicole Tan Jia Mae, eight, thinks waffles are delicious. My favourite place to enjoy waffles is a shop in Paramount Garden in Petaling Jaya. The shop offers a variety of waffles, and I especially love strawberry waffles. It comes with strawberries, butter, ice cream and fresh berries. It's simply yummy."

Jodie Tan Li Juen, 12, enjoys waffles, especially with ice cream and chopped peanuts. "I also like to have it with melted chocolate and chocolate chips. However, I prefer dark chocolate as it is healthy and not too sweet. My grandma also loves to have waffles for breakfast or afternoon tea with a cup of coffee."

Younger sibling Jayden Tan Li Sheng, nine, says: "My favourite waffle is called waffle sandwich, which I always have with ham or tuna and cheese. Sometimes, I will add in yoghurt or fruit jam. It is delicious and healthy." - Compiled by Sheela Chandran
