Starchild: Malaysian children wish they could time travel to meet their idols

If you could travel back in time, who would you like to meet? Would it be local legendary actor Tan Sri P. Ramlee, classical musician Beethoven or physicist Albert Einstein?

Many people look up to them because they are among the many greats, and someday we aspire to be successful or make an impact like them.

Jodie Tan Li Juen, 12, writes, “I would like to meet painter and inventor Leonardo Da Vinci. I admire his oil paintings and artworks like Monalisa and The Last Supper. I am inspired by his great talents. I would like to get his autograph and ask to accept me as his student.”

Jayden Tan Li Sheng, nine, writes, “I would like to meet Apple Inc’s Steve Jobs and light bulb inventor Thomas Edison. They have left their legacy and technology behind so that we can continue and change the world as it is today.”

“If I can time travel, I wish to meet George C. Devol who was the first person who created a science robot. I want him to make a robot for me. My robot will be able to do house chores and play with me,” says Norlick Titi, six.

Ooi Yee Ning, 10, wishes to time travel and visit Albert Einstein. “He is widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest physicists of all time.”

Victoria Liew Yen Yi, 9

Nine-year-old Victoria Liew Yen Yi wants to meet Albert Einstein too. “I hope he can teach me many things and I become a smarter girl.”

“My aunt’s dog Lucky passed away long ago. I want to travel back in time to meet Lucky. I would like to time travel back for just three minutes to meet Lucky and play with this loving dog,” says Chuah Seng Koon, six. – Compiled by Sheela Chandran
