They may be blue and tall (like the Na’vis from the movie Avatar), furry (Chewbacca from Star Wars) or big, powerful and evil (Thanos from Avengers: Endgame).

What is your favourite character from outer space? Do you like Groot the friendly talking tree or Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy, or Superman?

One of the best things about having friends is that they are there for us in times good times and bad. Friends are there to share our joy and comfort us in times of sorrow. Most importantly, a friend is someone we can truly be ourselves with.

And, as the saying goes, a good friend is more valuable than gold.

Three-year-old Asher Wang Qi Chuen says his parents are his best friends and his sister Bethany is his best best friend. “She is creative, fun and keeps me occupied all day long with her many stories and helps me with my drawing and colouring. I learn a lot from her everyday.”

Older sibling Bethany Wang Qi Syuen, six, writes: “I feel blessed to call my parents and brother my best friends. My parents take good care of me while my brother shows his care by sharing his treats with me and choosing my daily outfits for me. I love them very much.”

“Vedasha and Chin Xin Lin are my classmates and my BFFs. We love to play together, telling stories and playing charades. We usually spend time talking on the phone through a video call during the stay at home period,” says Debria Preethi Jeyarajah, 10.

Eight-year-old Chloe Leong Xizhen has many close friends who are also her best friends. “I have known my close friends from kindergarten. I love to do my homework and play with them. I love all my friends.”
