KinoFest returns this month with a selection of contemporary German films, offering Malaysian audiences a glimpse into the country's culture, society and storytelling through cinema.
Organised by Goethe-Institut Malaysia, the festival will run at GSC Mid Valley in Kuala Lumpur from Oct 22 to 25, before continuing in Penang from Nov 20 to 22 at the Malaysian-German Society.
The films featured explore themes of family, friendship, identity, coming of age, resilience and the complexities of everyday life.
KinoFest will open its Kuala Lumpur programme with The Secret Floor, which centres on a child's encounter with a hidden world. In Penang, the festival will open with Amrum, a film told through the eyes of a child that explores survival and historical change.
Another highlight is Yellow Letters, which won the Golden Bear for Best Film at this year's Berlin International Film Festival.
Selected screenings in KL will also feature post-film discussions curated by Wayang Budiman.
For KL: Tickets, priced at RM15 per film, go on sale today at GSC.
For Penang: Tickets can be booked via manager@mgs.com.my.
