Hong Kong actress Kara Wai, who recently travelled to Paris for Fashion Week, revealed that her team was robbed while stuck in a traffic jam.
Detailing the incident in a Weibo post on Sept 30, the 66-year-old wrote: “Our team was stuck in traffic on the highway from Paris airport to the city centre when someone smashed the car window and stole a bag.”
In a statement, Wai’s manager said the stolen bag contained the staff member’s passport, identification documents and other personal belongings.
The employees in the car were said to be unharmed.
They later reported the incident to police and sought help from the embassy to replace the stolen passport.
Wai, known for her roles in At The End Of Daybreak (2009) and The Defected (2019), urged travellers to remain vigilant and avoid carrying expensive bags when going out.
“Try to keep your bags out of sight or place them under the seat where they cannot be easily seen when travelling via public transport. Make sure to keep your documents and bank cards safe,” she wrote.
It is understood that Wai was travelling separately from the staff at the time of the incident, according to China-based news media organisation Jimu News.
She was later reminded by her team to take extra precautions during her stay in the city.
