Hong Kong actress Eva Lai Yin Shan is set to marry her boyfriend, who is from outside the entertainment industry, next year.
In a recent interview on a TVB programme, the 62-year-old candidly revealed that her current partner is a fellow church member she has known for more than 20 years.
The two gradually grew closer, with their relationship turning romantic in recent years.
“I didn’t deliberately seek out this relationship. I believe it is about fate and destiny. If you are meant to be together, you should go for that date – even at 80!” she said.
When asked about her marriage plans, Lai initially appeared shy before happily announcing that she will tie the knot next year.
“Next year! I will get married next year,” she said with a smile.
The TVB star added that her two children from a previous marriage are fully supportive of her finding love again later in life and have also taken a liking to her current boyfriend.
“My children have no objections and often praise him,” she said.
Lai previously married Hong Kong actor Tony Liu in 1992.
However, their marriage deteriorated in 2000 amid allegations of domestic violence.
Lai subsequently filed for separation and applied for a court injunction to prevent Liu from contacting her and their children.
The pair officially divorced in 2004.
