Hong Kong-based Japanese singer-actress Hiromi Wada has opened up about the darker side of the entertainment industry, revealing that she has endured numerous humiliating experiences throughout her career.
In a recent interview with Oriental Daily News, the 38-year-old revealed that she was once offered HK$30mil (RM15.4mil) by a wealthy businessman to become a surrogate mother and carry his child.
"I was furious at that moment. If he hadn't been in his 30s or 40s and good-looking, I would've slapped him," she said, adding that she has strong principles.
The surrogacy offer was not the only unusual proposition Hiromi received.
She was once promised a six-figure sum, as well as monthly earnings of several hundred thousand dollars, if she agreed to accompany wealthy businessmen to meals and gambling-related engagements in Macau and Singapore.
However, the former TVB star quickly turned down the offer as she disliked socialising and knew that such a lifestyle was not for her.
Hiromi also revealed that she had dated more than 10 wealthy heirs over the years, though none of the relationships worked out as she found them "arrogant and spoiled".
As for rumours suggesting Hiromi only clings to rich men, her boyfriend – a former barrister – told Oriental Daily News that the claims were untrue, adding that she's currently working hard to make HK$1mil (RM515,527) a month.
