Hong Kong actress Cecilia Cheung is mum to Lucas, 18, Quintus, 16, and Marcus, eight. Although she raises her children largely on her own, she is said to always prioritise them over work.
So when her middle son turned 16, she marked the occasion with a rather unusual but practical birthday gift that could benefit the well-being of her son.
Cheung reportedly gifted Quintus a jacuzzi-style bathtub.
According to an article in China Press, the present was chosen because her sports-loving son often experiences muscle soreness after volleyball training and does not know how to properly relieve it, which concerned her.
To help ease his discomfort, she decided on the jacuzzi-style bathtub.
Cheung is also said to have personally visited a store to select bathroom fittings and wallpaper for the installation.
The bathtub and installation reportedly cost around HKD10,000 (approximately RM5,000).
The article also mentioned that Cheung places strong importance on celebrating her children’s milestones.
“They should have birthday parties, cakes and gifts, because these become their memories and something they look forward to every year,” she was quoted as saying.
Beyond her children, Cheung is also thoughtful when it comes to gifts for her parents, explaining that caring for one’s parents is part of caring for oneself and preserving family values.
