Hong Kong entertainment mogul Tiffany Chen has offered rare insights into the private life of her close friend, China-born action star Jet Li.
In a recent live stream, the 67-year-old spoke about Li's first marriage to former Chinese actress Huang Qiuyan, which lasted from 1987 to 1990.
Chen described him as a good man, claiming that he "left with nothing" following the divorce and handed all his assets to Huang, 65.
"He gave the house to his ex-wife and even bought her a better car. He didn't take a single cent with him," she said.
Chen added that Li, 63, has since taken full responsibility for the living and education expenses of their two daughters – Si Li and Taimi.
"He has far exceeded his (parental) obligations and is not the heartless person some have portrayed him to be," she said.
Chen also quashed rumours suggesting Jet Li began dating his current wife – former screen beauty Nina Li Chi – during the filming of the 1989 movie Dragon Fight, insisting that he only pursued her after finalising his divorce with Huang.
Li married Nina, 64, in 1999 and shares two daughters with her – Jane and Jada.
