King Charles III has broken his silence amid new allegations about his brother, the former Prince Andrew, and his involvement with Jeffrey Epstein.
Buckingham Palace announced Monday (Feb 9) that His Royal Majesty will “support” UK police investigating reports that the ex royal, now known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, gave confidential information to the convicted sex offender in 2010.
“The King has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr. Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct,” a palace spokesperson said in a statement shared with media outlets.
“While the specific claims in question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address, if we are approached by Thames Valley Police we stand ready to support them as you would expect.”
“As was previously stated,” the statement continued, “Their Majesties’ thoughts and sympathies have been, and remain with, the victims of any and all forms of abuse.”
British police authorities said they were examining claims that Andrew allegedly emailed reports to Epstein from a 2010 tour he took while serving as Britain’s envoy for international trade in Southeast Asia.
Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, appeared numerous times in the latest drop of Epstein files released by the US Department of Justice in January.
Among the more than three millions documents were images that appear to show Queen Elizabeth’s second son kneeling over an unidentified person who is lying on the floor.
Amid renewed allegations that he was among Epstein’s clients, the embattled former Duke of York was stripped of all his titles and honors by his older sibling in October.
The palace stated at the time that the British monarch and Queen Camilla “wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Virginia Giuffre, an outspoken victim of the disgraced financier, claimed in her posthumous memoir that Epstein introduced her to Andrew, whom she accused of sexually abusing her on multiple occasions. Six months before her book was published, Giuffre died by suicide in April 2025.
The exiled royal issued a statement on Oct 17 maintaining his innocence, but saying he would surrender his title as the Duke of York.
Andrew, 65, previously announced in 2019 that he would step back from public life over his alleged links to Epstein, despite his continued denials of wrongdoing. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
