Hong Kong-based actress Eileen Tung has shared her thoughts on being called a “tycoon’s wife”.

In a recent interview on fellow actress Akina Fong’s YouTube show, Tung – who has been married to a Taiwanese businessman since 2003 – humbly dismissed the label, saying the term “tycoon” has nothing to do with her or her husband.

“My husband’s an ordinary person. Everything he has earned today is a result of his own hard work,” said the 52-year-old, who's born in Taiwan.

Tung added that she rarely talks about her husband as he’s a shy person. She noted that it’s likely this silence has led people to assume her partner’s a tycoon.

“We’re very simple. Our family life is also very simple. Simplicity brings happiness,” she said.

Tung then went on to share the story of how she fell in love with her husband.

The two were childhood neighbours who later went their separate ways after starting university.

About seven years later, fate brought them back together when they ran into each other on the streets of Taiwan.

“He called out my name as my assistant and I were crossing the street… That’s how we reconnected,” she said.

According to HK01, Tung is quite well-off and frequently offers glimpses of her lifestyle on her social media accounts.

She moved from a HK$40mil (RM21.7mil) sea-view residence to another home in Hong Kong’s Southern District last year and owns several luxury bags – including a HK$120,000 (RM65,197) Hermes Kelly bag.
