After creating a sensation with their GenKRU concert in May, legendary group KRU is set to return with an even bigger show, GenKRU The Finale: One More Time, at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil here on Nov 22.

The concert is expected to draw 12,000 fans and promises a new experience following the success of the group’s four sold-out nights at Axiata Arena, which earned two Malaysia Book of Records titles: Most Shows in a Single Concert Series and Most Concert Tickets Sold Out in an Hour.

KRU member Datuk Norman Abdul Halim said the upcoming concert, organised by Icon Entertainment, can be seen as a re-imagining - moving from an indoor venue to an outdoor stadium on a larger scale than ever before.

"We really want to raise the bar because it is such a great honour for us to perform at this venue.

"One of the things agreed (with the organiser) is that the stage, set and production this time will be much bigger, and with that support we are confident of delivering a stronger performance,” he said at a press conference here today.

Norman added that the group plans to bring fresh energy with a different selection of songs and special guest artistes to add colour to the show. He did not rule out the possibility of featuring legendary singer Anita Sarawak as a guest.

"That is one of our goals because she is extraordinary. But I can’t promise anything yet - if it happens, it will be a huge surprise.

"We are aiming for the best. Some artistes are truly great, but they may not have been active for some time,” he said.

Meanwhile, Icon Entertainment founder Iman Tang said Kuala Lumpur remains the best choice to stage the concert despite suggestions to take it outside the Klang Valley.

"After discussions, we decided to bring it back to Kuala Lumpur with a bigger stage and an even better production. Ticket prices will be slightly reduced, but we are adding value in terms of production,” he said.

He added that this additional concert by KRU, to fulfill the overwhelming demand from fans, reflects the positive growth of Malaysia’s entertainment industry.

Tickets will go on sale from Oct 3, starting from RM188, at www.ticket2u.com.my/genkruFinale. – Bernama
