Singaporean singer JJ Lin has collaborated with Hong Kong movie superstar Jackie Chan for the first time on the new song Skibidi.

The news was announced on Taiwan’s Hit FM website on Aug 25 and by Lin’s label, JFJ Productions, on social media on Aug 26.

“Hear it first,” JFJ wrote, sharing a photo of Lin, 44, and Chan, 71, together. “Preview @JJLin & @jackiechan’s new single, Skibidi, before its global release, from tomorrow Wednesday, Aug 27 at 10am.”

"Skibidi" was among 6,000 new words that have been added to the Cambridge Dictionary in the last 12 months.

The slang term has different meanings such as “cool” or “bad”, or can be used with no real meaning as a joke, according to the dictionary. The gibberish word was coined by the creator of a viral animated video series, Skibidi Toilet, on YouTube.

According to an introduction of the song Skibidi on Hit FM website, the uptempo track embodies the professional ethos Lin and Chan have exemplified - an attitude of never compromising and always giving it their all.

Skibidi is also Chan’s first foray into electronic music. The star previously recorded songs for his movies such as Drunken Master II (1994), Rumble In The Bronx (1995) and The Myth (2005). He has released studio albums such as Jackie Chan (1986) and Dragon’s Heart (1996).

He was most recently seen on the big screen in Hollywood martial arts film Karate Kid: Legends (2025) and Chinese-Hong Kong crime thriller The Shadow’s Edge (2025).

Skibidi’s release comes four months after Lin and Chan performed the classic song Sincere Hero (1993) together at a show in Wuhan, China, in April.

It was written by Taiwanese singer-songwriter Jonathan Lee and was originally performed by Chan, Lee, Taiwan-based singer Wakin Chau and Hong Kong singer Anthony Wong.

“Truly honoured to be invited by my lifelong hero to perform together at the 2025 Beloong Music Festival in Wuhan,” Lin wrote on social media then. “Sharing the stage with you is a dream come true - let the music transcend all boundaries.”

He added in the postscript: “Looking forward to our new song together.” – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
