Are children spending more time on their mobile devices these days?

Hong Kong actor Moses Chan seems to think so.

On Wednesday (Aug 20), the 54-year-old – who keeps much of his family life private – shared a photo of his eldest son glued to a tablet, though he made sure not to reveal the boy’s face.

His Instagram Story came with the caption: “As children grow older and spend more time online or on their phones, how can we ensure healthy digital habits and convince them to put their devices down willingly?”

In a separate post on Facebook, Chan admitted that keeping an eye on his three children – aged between nine and 12 – around the clock is difficult as he’s a “workaholic dad”.

“I can’t completely forbid them from using electronic devices. Even though we set a two-hour daily limit, they often get carried away and secretly go beyond it,” he said.

The award-winning TVB star – who's been married to actress Aimee Chan since 2013 – added that he has installed an app that monitors screen time and automatically locks the devices once the limit is reached.

“I don’t have to play the bad dad anymore,” he mused.

Many parents left comments saying they could fully relate to the actor’s struggles.

Some even shared their own experiences and struggles in dealing with their children’s tech addiction.

“It’s especially tough when they’re being stubborn, yet you hold back from scolding them out of fear it might strain your relationship,” one netizen lamented.

“My nephew once clicked on random links while watching anime and ended up on an inappropriate website. It scared me to death,” another wrote, as quoted by Dimsum Daily.
