Popular Hong Kong actress Ali Lee Kai-sum has thrilled fans in Malaysia after revealing that she will be filming in the country later this year.

The 42-year-old will be starring opposite fellow actor Chris Lai Lok-yi in the upcoming Astro drama The Exiled, which explores the turmoil and power struggle within a small-town gang following their leader’s death.

In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Lee shared her excitement about the project, revealing that this will be her first time filming a Malaysian drama.

“I’m looking forward to surprising audiences with something fresh,” she said.

While details about the show are still being finalised, filming is expected to start between late June and early July.

The actress revealed that she will be in Malaysia for about two months to complete the shoot.

Lee also reflected on sharing the screen with Lai, 44, once more following their last collaboration in 2018’s Who Wants A Baby.

She shared that Lai was one of the reasons she accepted the offer to star in The Exiled, adding: “We’re good friends both in public and in private.”

When discussing her salary for the project, Lee, who left TVB in December due to limited opportunities, acknowledged the differences compared to her former agency’s package deals.

However, she made it clear that she’s fine with it as long as the offer is reasonable.
