Hong Kong actress Cecilia Yip is no stranger in Asia’s entertainment scene

A two-time Hong Kong Film Awards Best Actress winner, the 62-year-old star has captivated audiences with standout performances in shows such as Let’s Make Laugh (1983), The Legend of the White Snake (1992) and more.

Recently, a video of Yip seemingly being pulled out of her car by an eager fan made the rounds on social media.

While staff members quickly stepped in to intervene, the actress stayed composed and even hugged the fan before leaving in her car.

The clip sparked widespread concern, with many speculating whether Yip was shaken by the incident and questioning the level of security at the scene.

Yip later took to Weibo to clear the air, dismissing claims that the fan had tried to drag her from the vehicle.

In her post, the Love Never Ends (2023) star explained that she was moved by the fan’s words and personally went over to hug her.

“The fan told me, ‘Cecilia, I’m the same age as you. I don’t know how to purchase tickets, so I could only wait here. I’ve liked you for many years and finally got to meet you,’” Yip wrote.

The actress then addressed concerns about security, reassuring fans that she was well protected.

She added that the staff had already spoken to the fan, who later apologised and promised not to act in such a manner again.

“I hope everyone will not speculate based on pictures or videos. Sometimes, what we see isn’t the whole picture,” she concluded.
