Actress, model and Jane’s Addiction muse Cindyana Santangelo dies suddenly at 58

Cindyana Santangelo, a New York City-born model, rock muse and actress who appeared in shows like CSI: Miami, ER and Married… with Children, has reportedly died in Los Angeles at the age of 58.

Santangelo, sometimes credited as Cindyana Lair, died at a local hospital following a medical emergency at her home in Malibu on Monday (March 24), TMZ reported.

Her cause of death wasn’t immediately clear, however Santangelo had recently received unspecified cosmetic shots, sources familiar with the case told the outlet.

Although the preliminary investigation reveals no signs of foul play, detectives from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department’s are awaiting the autopsy results before reaching a final conclusion.

Santangelo, who’s of Puerto Rican, Italian and Hungarian descent, was born in New York City, raised on the West Coast and moved to Britain at the age of 19 to study acting in London, according to a bio on her IMDb page.

Besides appearing in both television and film from 1990 until 2009, she also starred in several music videos thought her career, most notably Young MC’s Bust A Move in 1989 and Jane’s Addiction hit Stop, released a year later.

She was also featured on Jane’s Addiction’s second studio album, Ritual de lo Habitual, released in August 1990.

Speaking in Spanish, Santangelo kicks off the band’s massively influential sophomore album by reminding the world that the L.A.-based rockers had “more influence over your children than you do.”

The band’s frontman, Perry Farrell, later described Santangelo as “the Latin Marilyn Monroe” in an interview with Spin Magazine.

“That’s Cindy Lair at the beginning of Ritual de lo Habitual,” Farrell told the outlet in 2003. “She was the Latin Marilyn Monroe. We met her, and I thought, ‘Holy Mother, this girl is just gorgeous,'” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
