Hong Kong singer-actress Karen Mok did not let the rain dampen her zeal after she slipped twice on a wet stage during a recent concert in China.

The 54-year-old was in Suzhou on March 15 for the latest stop of her The Big Big Show tour, which kicked off in Beijing in June 2024. The rain show at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre was her first gig of 2025.

According to videos posted on Chinese social media, Mok – dressed in a black sequinned outfit – was seen walking forward from the centre of the stage. She stumbled and fell when she was about to crouch down to pose, but she quickly got back on her feet and continued with her performance.

In a video of another segment, Mok slipped while she was dancing at the front of the elevated stage, but she kept calm, stood up and resumed the show.

She was praised by fans for her professionalism and composure during both incidents, to which she responded with gratitude on Chinese social media platform Weibo on March 16.

“My first Big Big Show in 2025 was hit by the rain and spring chill, but the night in Gusu was heated up by the warmth of tens of thousands of people,” she wrote in Chinese, referring to the main district of Suzhou.

“Thank you, Suzhou. Your enthusiasm has chased away all the coldness.”

In another post on Weibo and Instagram on March 19, she added: “An unforgettable rainy night in Suzhou. I am still immersed in the warmth of the Big Big Show.”

Mok’s next stop on her tour will be in Chongqing on April 19. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
