Singer Shila Amzah revealed that her husband, Ubai, was deeply upset after being accused of abusing her.

The 34-year-old artiste told the Malay media that they hoped people would immediately stop spreading the false allegations on social media.

“(Ubai) was like, ‘What is this?’ He was heartbroken when people accused him. He came to me, devastated,” Shila shared at a press meet on Tuesday (Dec 17).

She added that Ubai was stressed after reading about the allegations, as they were completely untrue.

Previously, Shila had spoken out about domestic violence in light of news about actress and former model Zahnita Wilson. Zahnita’s husband had been remanded until Dec 5 for domestic violence.

Shila mentioned that she too had experienced violence but did not name the perpetrator. Her disclosure may have caused netizens to misinterpret her remarks and wrongly assume that Ubai was involved.

Defending her decision to address the issue publicly, Shila stated, “Having gone through this myself, I hope that by sharing my experience, those in a similar situation might find some strength.

“These issues are often silenced, and no action is taken, which is what concerns me."

Discussing violence against women further, Shila said she hoped to raise awareness about the issue.

She noted that abusive partners are often manipulative, using sweet words and pleas to make victims struggle to differentiate love from control.

“Some netizens may disagree with my posts, thinking I am exposing private matters, but I feel it's important to show we have a voice too,” she said.

The matter has also inspired Shila to resume work on a song she began two years ago, which reflects her experiences with violence. She revealed that Ubai not only supported her emotionally but also contributed to finishing the song by writing its lyrics.

“At that time, I was too stressed and traumatised to complete it. But now, I feel I can finish the song,” she shared.

“Ubai is helping me face my trauma because the song is about the violence I endured,” she added.

In other news, Shila is set to perform in the Countdown MeleTOP 2025 Concert on Dec 31. The event will take place at The Symphony Walk (East), IOI City Mall Putrajaya, and will be broadcast live on Astro Ria (Ch 104).
