Actress and singer Maria Cordero recently announced that she is unwell and will be undergoing surgery to clear a blockage in her heart.

In a Facebook video on Monday (Sept 23), Cordero, who was seen lying in a hospital bed, recounted the moments leading up to her hospitalisation.

The 70-year-old revealed that she experienced a severe chest pain one day, sweated profusely and fainted.

“My blood pressure was very high, and my oxygen levels were very low, so I was admitted to the hospital. The doctor said I needed surgery,” she said.

Cordero added that she will be taking a temporary hiatus from social media and other showbiz activities to focus on recuperating.

The Fatal Love star also told her fans not to worry, reassuring them that she will be back once she recovers.

“I’d like to apologise to everyone because I’m not feeling well and have to undergo surgery.

"The live streams for the next two weeks will be paused, so I can rest. Thank you, everyone,” she said.

Many fans and celebrities – including singer Albert Chau and former child actor Brian Chow Kwok-fung – have since left comments, wishing Cordero a speedy recovery.

Hong Kong actor Luk Ho Ming wrote: "Ah Ma must rest well and recover quickly. Stay healthy."

One netizen wrote: "May God take good care of you. Rest well and get well soon."
