Malaysian actress Lin Min Chen has addressed her relationship with Hong Kong singer-actor Edan Lui.

In an interview with Hong Kong media on Thursday (Sept 12), the 34-year-old clarified that they were just friends.

Lin admitted that she did receive care from Lui, a member of the popular boy band Mirror, when she temporarily halted her career due to an illness.

The pair met at a mutual friend’s party and have known each other for some time. They also keep in touch.

In response to Lui’s public confession about romantically pursuing her, Lin said the singer had already informed her before posting his statement.

“He also apologised to me. He was worried that it would cause me trouble, but all is well. He is truly a gentleman,” she said, adding that she has not received malicious comments from Lui’s fans.

When asked about their current relationship status, Lin said she has a conservative approach to romance, needing more time to know someone before deciding if they are a good match.

“For now, I’m just going with the flow,” said the Penang-born actress.

Lin's statement comes two days after Lui admitted that he was romantically pursuing the former.

In his Threads post, Lui described Lin as a "great person".

He wrote: "I have a good impression of her and am currently pursuing her. Hopefully, there will be room for our relationship to develop in the future. But for now, Min Chen and I are just friends, nothing more."

The popular singer also urged the public to give them space, adding that he will be sure to inform everyone if there is any good news.

Rumours of Lui and Lin surfaced last month after they were spotted dining together in Europe.

At the time, Lui clarified that he was there for work and had simply asked Lin out for a meal as she happened to be in the same area.

While Lui shut down dating rumours then, he said anything was possible, and he would just go with the flow while focusing on work.
