Spanish actor Julian Ortega (pic), known for his role on Netflix’s Elite, has died at the age of 41.

The Madrid native reportedly suffered cardiorespiratory arrest at around 5.30pm Sunday when he collapsed on a Spanish beach, according to The Sun and expat newspaper The Olive Press.

The incident reportedly occurred in front of the La Calima bar on Zahora Beach in Barbate, where Ortega was pronounced dead, despite paramedics’ attempts to revive him for up to half an hour.

Barbate sits about 100 miles south of Seville and just 60 miles north of Tangier, Morocco.

Fellow Spanish actors Fernando Tejero and Silvia Marso were among those who publicly mourned Ortega.

“I am broken with pain, dear colleague... what a great actor and what a beautiful person you are, Julian Ortega,” Tejero said. “Fly high, hugs to your father and mother.”

Marso remembered Ortega as both “a tremendous actor and a colleague of integrity, honesty and as good a person as his parents Gloria Munoz and Jose Antonio Ortega.”

Along with his role as Encargado La Cabana in Netflix teen drama Elite, Ortega was also known for his roles in the series, 4 estrellas, The Countryside and Untameable.

At the time of his death, Ortega had completed work on the project, Trompeta, according to his IMDb. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
