Hong Kong-based artiste Alex Lam, the son of renowned singer George Lam, is officially a dad.
In an Instagram update on Mother’s Day (May 12), Alex Lam announced that he and his wife Candace have welcomed their first child, a baby girl.
His post was accompanied by three photos – one of Lam with his mum, one of him caressing his wife’s belly and another of Candace with their baby.
“My mum used to sing this song to me to put me to sleep. Now I will sing it too,” the 39-year-old captioned his post.
Celebrity friends like TVB star Fred Cheng, singer Kay Tse, actress Jennifer Yu and more left comments congratulating Lam and Candace on becoming parents.
While Lam only announced the happy news recently, the singer told HK01 that his daughter was born two months ago.
He also shared that his father was the one who named their daughter Lin Ming.
Expressing gratitude towards Candace, Lam said: "These past two months, I've seen how hard postpartum confinement has been for her. She can't go out and can only stay at home to take care of the baby. It's really exhausting."
When asked if her husband has been helping to take care of their baby, Candace nodded and said: "Alex is very attentive, caring and warm-hearted. I really couldn't have done it without him. Alex is an expert at changing diapers!"
Lam, who was born in the United States, married Candace in a private ceremony on Nov 16, 2023.
The couple sparked pregnancy rumours at the time when photographs from their wedding showed Candace’s abdomen appearing slightly protruded.
Candace is a seasoned sake sommelier. The pair met in 2017 and have been together since.
