The nine-year marriage between entrepreneur Datuk Seri Adnan Abu and singer Adira finally ended in divorce when the couple officially divorced with talak satu on Wednesday (April 24).
The 46-year-old businessman pronounced the talak in front of Shariah Judge Abdul Hadi Omar at the Lower Shariah Court of Gombak Barat, Rawang, Selangor, around 9.40am, reported mStar – The Star's Malay-language portal.
Adnan, also known as Datuk Red, appeared distressed and bowed after pronouncing the divorce, while Adira appeared calm.
At the same time, Adira Suhaimi, 32, also agreed not to claim any alimony from Adnan.
When met outside the court after the proceeding, Adira told mStar: “I don't want anything because I don't want to burden my ex-husband anymore.
"Everyone knows he is feeling down. We pray for the best for him.
"If his situation gets better later, he can pay (the finances) for our children."
In March, Adnan revealed that he declared bankruptcy in 2019 and had since been relying on the support of Adira due to his failure to secure a stable job.
Adira filed for divorce from Adnan on Oct 25, citing a lack of understanding.
She had previously filed a similar application against Adnan on April 1, 2019, but withdrew it to give her husband a chance for the sake of their four children, aged between six and two.
They were married in Songkhla, Thailand on Dec 3, 2015. She's his second wife.
