Although Fala Chen is now based in the United States, former TVB actress has fond memories visiting Malaysia during her days working in Hong Kong.

Chen recalled this when she spoke exclusively to StarLifestyle on Wednesday (March 20) on her starring role in the upcoming Hollywood movie Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, out at cinemas nationwide on March 28.

“We used to go to the night markets a lot, and I love durian. I like going to the market and picking a durian and like they'd open it right there for us to eat,” she said with a big smile.

When we asked if she could list some of her favourite Malaysian food, she said: “What is that food that's served for breakfast – you have to help me out here – it has egg, and it's spicy."

Does she mean Nasi Lemak?

“Ah yes, Nasi Lemak. I also ate a lot of satays and of course the Malaysian Chinese food that I feel exceeds Cantonese food, like char siu.”

The 42-year-old had worked in Hong Kong in her 20s in shows such as Moonlight Resonance (2008), Queens Of Diamonds And Hearts (2011) and Triumph In The Skies II (2013).

In those times, she made a few visits to Kuala Lumpur either to promote a show or to make an appearance at beauty events.

It's reported she ended her contract with TVB in 2013, and ventured into the China entertainment industry a year later.

In 2019, she starred opposite Nicole Kidman in the US show The Undoing and made her Hollywood film debut in Marvel's Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings opposite Tony Leung.

Chen added: “Food is so diverse and amazing in Malaysia... I miss it so much.”

Earlier this week, Chen who married French entrepreneur Emmanuel Straschnov in 2019, made a surprise announcement on Instagram that she gave birth to a second baby, a boy. She and Straschnov have a three-year-old daughter.
