Actress Puteri Sarah confirmed that her relationship with ex-husband, actor-director Syamsul Yusof, has gotten a lot of better since their divorce on June 14.

The 37-year-old said this to mStar – The Star's Malay-language news portal – adding that she's happy that Syamsul is now spending more time with their two small children, six-year-old Syaikhul Islam, and four-year-old Sumayyah.

"After all that have happened, my relationship with him is now good and we are often in contact with each other to discuss about our children.

"He also meets up with the kids regularly now... which the children are happy about," she said.

"I take this to be a good development (in our relationship)... and I hope this is how it will be from now on."

The Andai Itu Takdirnya star also said that both she and the Mat Kilau director have agreed to not talk about their marital issues to their children.

"There are no questions from the children about what happened. I am going to just let it be and let them find out naturally.

"Whatever it is, the children do not feel the absence of their father anymore as Syamsul is always there for them.

"If it's possible, I want the children's relationship with their father to be continuously good."

Puteri Sarah added that Syaikul and Sumayyah can meet up with their father whenever they want, as she didn't want to restrict their meetings to scheduled times.

On June 27, fans were already conjecturing that Puteri Sarah and Syamsul have mended their relationship based on an Instagram post by Syamsul regarding Sumayyah.

Fans theorised that the photo was taken while Syamsul was making a video call with his daughter, who was possibly being held by Puteri Sarah.

Many were glad that the two stars have decided to put their past behind after months of conflict in their marriage – most of which were shared publicly as each filed different court applications and vented their frustrations on social media.

On June 14, this marital rift came to an end when the couple’s divorce was finalised with the pronouncement of "talak satu" made by Syamsul, with the court granting the divorce application filed by Puteri Sarah on Jan 16.

The two were married on March 8, 2014.
