Taiwanese artiste Will Liu has reached new heights ever since his live-streaming career in China took off during the pandemic.

Since last April, Liu’s followers have shot up from 6 million to over 70 million as of press time.

The 50-year-old is known for his fitness live streams which he does with his wife, Vivi Wang.

With China’s 618 Shopping Festival just around the corner, Nanyang Siang Pau reported that the singer’s asking price for a 20-second video during that period is 600,000 yuan (RM388,186).

The topic quickly went viral on Chinese social media, with many netizens expressing surprise at such a high price.

While some think the 50-year-old was “undeserving” of that amount, a handful of supporters have defended the singer for being transparent about his price.

Some also said that the price was reasonable as Liu was a big name in Douyin.

For context, A-list superstars Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo – best known for their performance in the widely popular Chinese drama The Untamed – have around 16 million and 14 million followers on Douyin.

Liu also set a record for the most viewed single live-stream on Douyin last year after he racked up 44.76 million views and 200 million likes.
