Not too long ago, it was reported that Jackie Chan got emotional when it was time to say goodbye to his equine co-star on the set of his new movie.
On April 13, you can see that film starring Chan and the said horse as Ride On opens at cinemas nationwide then.
Described as a stuntman-horse buddy action movie by one publication, Ride On is also said to be “homage to Jackie Chan's classic stunts from his previous movies”.
It centres on a washed-up stuntman, Luo (Chan), and his beloved stunt horse, Red Hare.
Having fallen on hard times and a massive debt, Luo is at his wits' end on how to care for himself and his horse.
He has no choice but to seek out his estranged daughter Bao (Liu Haocun) for financial aid, something he needs desperately especially when he's informed that Red Hare may be auctioned off to cover his debts.
But the tide turns when a video of the fight between the debt collectors and Luo, who got a little help from the horse, goes viral.
The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Chan was thrilled to be playing the role of a stuntman in the film as he started in the movie business as a stuntman.
He said: “In the heyday of kung fu movies, you fought for real, you risked your life by really racing a fast car and really riding a wild horse. The spirit was passed on from one generation to the next.”
Directed by Larry Yang (Mountain Cry), Ride On also stars Liu Haocun and Kevin Guo. Other star appearances include Andy On, Joey Yung and Wu Jing.
