It’s reported that actress Crystal Fung, who won the Miss Hong Kong 2016 pageant and joined TVB a year later, hasn’t had that many roles recently with the Hong Kong broadcaster of late.

This led to the rumour that she’d fallen out of favour with TVB and put in “cold storage”.

Another rumour that was going around too was that she was switching her career from acting to working in finance.

This came about when Fung revealed in July 2022 that she was studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and had passed the first level of the CFA exam.

Currently, the speculation that she's quitting acting was buzzing again when the 28-year-old shared a photo on Instagram Story on Feb 22, tagging Hong Kong University, indicating that she’s in a study group while pursuing a master’s degree.

According to the entertainment portal JayneStars.com, Fung resolved to further her education because her work load was less.

And now that she is pursuing a master’s degree, TVB apparently respects her decision and is not booking her for any new dramas and variety shows.

The article mentioned that Fung will continue to work in showbiz, but in a lighter capacity like a one-time hosting gig.

Furthermore, Fung explained that she is doing her master’s in food and nutrition studies, continuing from her undergraduate degree.

She previously graduated with a Second Class Honors in Food & Nutritional Science at University of Hong Kong.

“It’s my dream to get a master’s degree. Currently, I do not have plans to change careers. Thanks to everyone for their concern! Learning is an endless journey; I hope everyone can continue to live and learn until old age," she is quoted on the website.
