Local actress Ruhainies – best known for her role in drama Hello, Mr. Perfect! – recently expressed her dissatisfaction after being accused of romancing a politician's son.

In an Instagram Story posted Wednesday (Dec 28), the 30-year-old – whose real name is Nur Ruhainies Farehah Zainul Ilyas – dismissed the rumours as an attempt to slander her.

"I understand that as long as you're not married, all kinds of speculations will arise. That's normal as a celebrity.

"But if you're making up a story for your own satisfaction or with bad intentions, it's wrong. I am free to be friends with whoever I want," Ruhainies wrote.

She also requested for everyone to stop spreading rumours about her as she "has better things to do than chase after love".

According to mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal, the gossip surrounding Ruhainies first arose after she became actively involved in the latest General Election (GE15).

Shutting down those rumours, the actress stressed that many of her celeb friends were actively involved in the campaign too, and that she wasn't the only one.

For now, Ruhainies is focusing on her career and family.

"I'm still not open to meeting someone new at the moment. My focus is only on my career and family," she concluded.
