Taiwanese singer Chao Chuan, 61, graduates with a master's degree: 'Thank you to my hardworking self'

Taiwanese singer Chao Chuan is the living proof that one is never too old to pursue education.

The 61-year-old shared with fans that he has just graduated with a master's degree in Popular Music Studies and Industrial Applications from the National Taiwan Normal University.

Chao Chuan didn't have a formal graduation ceremony due to the pandemic but he managed to take some snapshots of himself in his graduation robe, which he posted on his Facebook with the caption: "I've graduated! I've graduated! I've graduated!"

“It was only after taking the graduation photos that I feel I have really graduated. I'm so happy! Thank you to my hardworking self! Thank you to my parents for being proud of me!” he said, dedicating his achievement to his parents, who are both in their 90s.

In interviews with Taiwan media, the singer – who admitted he is not good at studying – said that obtaining the master's degree was a dream come true. The I'm Just A Little Bird hitmaker added that working on his thesis proved to be difficult.

"It has been more than 40 years since I had to burn the midnight oil. Before I finished my thesis, I had to show it to my supervisor to review it and this process went back and forth several times. It really takes patience and persistence,” he said, adding that he would work on his thesis till 3am daily for two months.
