Actress Nad Zainal rushed to hospital for lung infection, now in critical condition

The mother of two first sought medical treatment on Sunday as she had trouble breathing.

Actress Nad Zainal, 32, is in critical condition and is warded at a hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) in Selangor, reports mStar, The Star’s Malay-language portal.

Her health status was shared by fellow artiste Ungku Ismail Aziz on Wednesday (Nov 23) who was at the hospital at the time mStar contacted him.

“She is in critical condition right now. She is in the ICU and is weak,” he told mStar.

Earlier in the day, Ungku wrote via Instagram Story to his followers to pray for Nad to get better soon.

Reports state that Nad first sought medical treatment on Sunday (Nov 20) as she had trouble breathing and it was believed to be due to lung infection caused by bacteria.

After taking the medicine she was prescribed, her condition improved.

But, on Monday night, the mother of two was rushed to the hospital.

A CT scan revealed there was blood in her lungs. After the lungs were cleared of the fluid, Nad still experienced shortness of breath that the doctors decided to intubate her to allow her to breathe better.

Ungku told mStar that further tests would be done as the doctors couldn’t determine the reason for the bleeding.

“But it’s not due to long Covid,” Ungku told a Malay news portal. “I hope people do not speculate about this and spread the wrong information.”

Nad and Ungku are co-stars in the Astro Ria new drama titled Cina Buta, set to premiere tonight after being postponed from its earlier premiere date, Nov 9.

However, "due to unforeseen circumstances", the series has been postponed once again, said a new report by mStar.

The slot will be replaced by the drama Dia Yang Ku Jadikan Suami instead.

Cina Buta director Shahrulezad Mohammedin said on Instagram that he doesn’t know the reason for the postponement, but he did express that he's more concerned about Nad’s health situation at the moment.
